Barracuda can be used with ion chambers and is suited for more profound measurements. Piranha cannot be used with ion chambers but is more compact and does not require any external cables as both detector and Bluetooth are already built in the Piranha.

The cost of Barracuda or Piranha depends on which features and functions the customer wishes to be included in the instrument. The perfect meter can be custom-made according to customer's instructions.
Barracuda can be a simple dose meter for measurements in one modality only (e.g Radiography) or a complex multimeter covering all modalities (from radiography to fluoroscopy, CT and mammography). A Complete Barracuda can measure with at least three different detectors simultaneously.
The same principle applies even for Piranha. Piranha has several different models. A certain model can be selected according to customer's requirements. A Piranha model can be as simple as a dose-meter only or a complex multimeter that can be used in all modalities.

RTI usually releases two upgrades each year. In each release new features have been presented which will simplify the measurements and analyze of the results. These new features have usually been initiated by RTI customers' needs and wishes.

If you are used to running the QABrowser on a Palm OS handheld, and start using it on a Windows Mobile handheld, there are some minor differences.

Tap quickly

When selecting items you should tap a little quicker on the Windows Mobile handheld. This is due to that tap and holding on Windows Mobile is like a right click with the mouse on a Windows PC, it displays a context sensitive menu.

Hardware keys

You can't use the hardware keys to navigate the QABrowser with the Windows Mobile handheld, you have to press the Quickbar on the screen. You can use the navigator to go up/down/back/select, but you might need to first focus the screen by tapping it.

Alphabetically sorted

All lists are alphabetically sorted on the Windows Mobile device, for instance Radiography is last in the selectable list on the Windows Mobile device, but on the Palm OS device it's first.

Connection lost

The Windows Mobile device will not warn you if it loose the connection to the meter like the Palm OS handheld will. We are currently looking at finding a solution to this.

Multitasking

On Windows Mobile you don't need to close the QABrowser in order to do something else (like browsing the web or writing a document), just start the other application from the Start menu, or minimize QABrowser by clicking on the x. To show the QABrowser again, click the QABrowser icon in the start menu, just like when you launch it.

You display the QABrowser menu by clicking on the menu icon in the gray area at the bottom of the screen, not on the title bar at the top as on Palm OS.
